I am not a poet, in fact this is the first of anything that might even resemble a poem that I have ever written. After taking time to render this piece and considerable thought about the subject of Blood Diamonds I couldn't resist the creative impulse to write something heartfelt.
----------------------------------* Blood Diamond, Waged wars, Denied cures, and western allures.
Blood Diamond, Slave labor, Empathetic neighbors, and sullied sabers.
Blood Diamond, Noxious potions, Travelling oceans, and false notions.
Blood Diamond, Tortured minutes, Countless digits, and trapped spirits.
Blood Diamond, Deadly ambitions, Lost traditions, and eternal prisons.
What this piece represents to me is the cyclic nature of being caged in by the 'Blood Diamond' enterprise. Incorporated within the art is a small but noticeable way out of the never ending matrix. This was intended to signify 'hope' of all the individuals who find themselves enslaved in body and spirit to this ridiculous trade.
